Born in Casale Monferrato, Alessia Gay began her training at the Municipal Dance School in her hometown. In 1999, she was admitted to the La Scala School in Milan. Two years later, she joined the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, where she graduated in 2004 under the guidance of Galina Solovieva. In 2007, she joined the corps de ballet of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, directed by Carla Fracci, and immediately performed numerous solo and principal roles such as Aurora, Odette/Odile, Clara, Cinderella, Swanilda, Kitri, La Sylphide, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, and the Russian Girl in Serenade. She was named a Soloist in 2015 and has received numerous awards and accolades from Italian and international critics, including the “Danza&Danza Award for Best Emerging Italian Artist 2013” and the “Jia Ruskaja Lifetime Achievement Award 2014.” Since 2019, she has dedicated herself to full-time teaching and is a professor of classical technique and pointe at Scuola28. She collaborated with Maestra Pia Russo during the 2024–2025 academic year of “Percorso Danza” as a guest repertoire instructor. She is an AIDA-certified teacher with top marks and continues her pedagogical training through annual refresher courses.
