Project Rebirth

June 28 – July 5, 2026

During a one-week residency in Orsolina28, Tú Hoàng will develop Rebirth”, a choreographic project that explores transformation as a lived and embodied ritual. Moving through states of intensity, collapse and renewal, the work investigates cycles of death and rebirth as physical and emotional experiences.

Blending dynamic movement with spiritual symbolism, the piece unfolds through repetition, exhaustion and release, allowing performers to strip away constructed identities and return to a raw, instinctive state. Rebirth emerges not as a singular moment, but as a continuous and inevitable process.

The research brings together four dancers with distinct physical qualities. Tú Hoàng approaches this diversity as a generative space, shaping the material in relation to each performer and examining how different bodies can inform the overall structure of the work. The project reflects his ongoing interest in transformation, drawing from personal experience and translating it into a shared creative force.

Tú Hoàng

Tú Hoàng (b. 1988) is a Vietnamese-Dutch choreographer and movement artist known for his dynamic fusion of classical and contemporary dance techniques, urban styles, martial arts and philosophical inquiry. With roots in Hanoi and a performance career spanning across Europe, he is emerging as one of the most versatile and distinctive voices on the contemporary dance scene.

His work operates at the intersection of East and West, body and spirit, intuition and control. Influenced by Taoist philosophy, Tai Chi, and contemporary cultural contexts, he develops a highly physical and detailed movement language that integrates personal and cultural mythologies.

Currently a House Maker at Korzo Theater, Hoàng collaborates internationally with companies and institutions such as Of Curious Nature, Ballett Chemnitz, the American Dance Festival, Tanztheater Braunschweig and Conny Janssen Danst. His creations have received international recognition, including awards at the International Choreography Competition Hannover and MASDANZA.

Alongside his choreographic practice, he continues to develop the Framework Method, a movement approach that combines breath, intention and precision to support performers in achieving clarity, efficiency and expressive depth.
