Riva & Repele

Horizons

June 14 – June 28, 2026

Orsolina28 Art Foundation is pleased to welcome the artistic duo Riva & Repele, consisting of Sasha Riva and Simone Repele, for a residency focused on their repertoire.

Horizons explores the human journey through the passage of time. The horizon becomes an unreachable point, a delicate line that shifts further away the more we attempt to approach it. Perhaps it is precisely there, in that suspended space between what has been and what remains unknown, that souls eventually find their quiet.

With their distinctive choreographic language, Sasha Riva and Simone Repele create a poetic landscape in which movement becomes a tool for reflection on identity, relationships, memory, and the invisible thresholds that shape the course of life.

Horizons” unfolds as an intimate and evocative experience, where an infinite horizon accompanies each step, a silent presence guiding the human journey.

Riva & Repele

Sasha Riva, born in Fairfax County, Virginia, in 1991, grew up in Italy in Sesto San Giovanni. In 2008 he moved to Hamburg to study at the John Neumeier School of the Hamburg Ballet. Three years later he joined the Hamburg Ballet as a company member, where John Neumeier created several solo roles for him.

During his years with the company, Riva performed important roles from Neumeier’s repertoire and developed a strong artistic voice as both dancer and creator. In 2016 he joined the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, where he expanded his repertoire performing works by internationally renowned choreographers.

Alongside his career as a performer, Riva increasingly developed his choreographic work.

Simone Repele was born in Turin, Italy, in 1993. At the age of sixteen he moved to Hamburg to study at the John Neumeier School of the Hamburg Ballet, where he graduated two years later. During this period Neumeier selected him as a soloist for Spring and Fall at the Nijinsky Gala in 2012.

After his studies he joined the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, where he further developed his career as a performer and began exploring choreography.

Repele’s choreographic voice quickly gained recognition, leading to commissions and collaborations with important dance institutions.

Simone Repele and Sasha Riva's partnership deepened over the years and in 2020 the two artists founded Riva & Repele, an association through which they create choreographic programs performed by themselves as well as by other dancers. Balancing their identities as both dancers and choreographers, Riva and Repele continue to develop a shared artistic language rooted in physical intensity, emotional depth, and a strong theatrical presence.
