Read moreParvaneh Scharafali, born in Tehran and raised in Germany, graduated from the Hamburg Ballet School in classical ballet and choreography. She danced with the Hamburg Ballet, working closely with John Neumeier and Mats Ek, before joining NDT2 and subsequently Nederlands Dans Theater 1. During her time there, she emerged as a leading performer in major choreographic works, most notably in Jiří Kylián’s ''Tar and Feathers'', ''Toss of a Dice'', and ''27'52'', as well as in the repertoire of Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, and William Forsythe, among many others. Scharafali, alongside Gustavo Sansano, won the 1st Prize for Best Choreography at the PRIX Dom Perignon and received the Golden Swan Dance Award for Best Dancer for her role in ''Drawn Onward'' by Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, also being nominated for her interpretation of Forsythe’s ''DUO''. In 2008, she joined the Forsythe Company, where she collaborated and performed in numerous works by William Forsythe. As a freelance artist, she maintained her relationship with Forsythe, performing as a principal dancer in ''A Quiet Evening of Dance'', touring worldwide. Produced by NDT and Korzo, Scharafali premiered her choreography ''dar'' and created works for NDT SI and NDT YTP. She was commissioned by ''Les Hivernales'' to create two new solos, which premiered under the titles "Wings of Plastic" and "Bidad".
