Helena Olmedo Duynslaeger

Fareras

May 24 – June 14, 2026
Fareras

Orsolina28 Art Foundation is thrilled to welcome three young, emerging choreographers for the 2026 edition of Call for Creation.

Over the course of three weeks, Helena Olmedo Duynslaeger will devote herself to the development of her first full-evening work, “Fareras”.

At the heart of “Fareras” stands a lighthouse, symbol of hope and memory, witnessing our relation with the sea. Its light becomes a fragile promise, a shared language that connects beings beyond borders. Inspired by poet Antonio Colinas’ vision of lighthouses as symbols of humanism in times of horror and atrocity, light remains a call to hope, dialogue and reconciliation.

Revisiting myths and inherited narratives written in patriarchal societies, five women on stage recreate a rich realm of images and movement, reshaping narratives through their own embodied perspective.

The piece unfolds as a journey through tableaux inspired by what lighthouses evoke: shipwreck, solitude, mythology, farewell, infinity, arrival, memory and encounter. With “Fareras”, Olmedo researches movement beyond the frameworks, where the body composes and decomposes itself, driven by its own will to escape realism. Also inspired by stop-motion aesthetics and visual storytelling, she will be physically researching this imagery by merging bodies, guiding shadows, textiles and other elements, creating vivid visual compositions, like living drawings and characters that embody signals, myths, and narratives.

The lighthouse remains the anchor, once again, witnessing our story.
