To celebrate the conclusion of a week of intense training and artistic experimentation, Moncalvo in Danza and Orsolina28 Art Foundation present the Gala Evening, an event that brings the talent of young dancers and pre-professionals to the stage.
The evening begins with the Under group (ages 11-13), who, guided by choreographer Barbara Gatto, with the assistance of Marta Castelletta, present “Fino all'ultimo cappello” (Until the Last Hat), an elegant and breathless race in which every step is a choice to stand out and not disappear. The Junior group (14-16 years old) brings to the stage “Il morso del Sud” (The Bite of the South), a danced journey through myth, rhythm, and healing. Choreographed by Nico Benedetti from Puglia, the presentation transforms the ritual of the pizzica into an expression of liberation and rebirth. Next up are the Seniors (aged 17 and over): led by Francesca Frassinelli, they will perform “Freefalling,” an exploratory journey into human resilience, sharing moments of mental and physical synergy in search of meaning.
The evening will close with the pre-professional dancers of the Pre-Professional group (aged 18 and over), who have spent the week divided between Roberta Ferrara and Adriano Bolognino. With Roberta Ferrara, the participants explored the practice of “Pathways,” a physical and sensory ritual that opens up space for listening, presence, and relationship, which for the evening takes performative form, intertwining with various scores from the repertoire of the choreographer Equilibrio Dinamico's company. Adriano Bolognino, on the other hand, dedicated the week to studying his repertoire piece “Samia,” dedicated to the young athlete Samia Yusuf Omar, who died in the waters off Lampedusa while attempting to reach Europe.
