The Bologna-based ensemble Delirium Amoris offers a program dedicated to the famous violinist Johann Georg Pisendel (1687 - 1755) and his impact on the Italian and transalpine violin and compositional schools.

It begins with "Violin Sonata in Bb Major" which Tommaso Albinoni dedicated to the maestro during a visit to Venice by the latter, while it is in Florence that Pisendel met Martino Bitti ("Concerto à 4 in D major") and Giuseppe Maria Tanfani ("Violin Sonata in D major"). Of particular importance was his relationship with Vivaldi, who is thought to have mentored him: the "Violin Sonata RV 29 in A major" and the "Violin Concerto RV 237 in D minor" presented here are expressly dedicated "per monsieur Pisendel." It is also speculated that it was Pisendel who introduced Vivaldi to the violin sonatas of virtuoso Jean Paul von Westhoff: his "Violin Sonata no. 3 in D minor" has indeed many points in common with the Italian composer's concerto.
