Gianni Notarnicola
Read moreGianni Notarnicola was born in 1996 in Monopoli, Italy. He joined the Junior Dance Company in 2010, working for Sara Accettura, Osnat Kelner and Kerry Nicholls and danced with Equilibrio Dinamico under the direction of Roberta Ferrara in South Italy. In 2015, he moved to Milan to work with Matteo Levaggi. He attended NOD in Torino and later joined the Kibbutz Gaaton Dance Workshop, directed by Einav Levi and Yaniv Abraham. In the years 2017-2018, he worked for various choreographers including Bosmat Nossan, Yaniv Abraham, Guy Shomroni, Eyal Dadon, Jason Danino Holt and Ido Gidron. He danced for Avshalom Pollak Dance Theatre in 2019, joined the Batsheva Ensemble in 2019 performing pieces of Sharon Eyal, Nadav Zelner and Noa Zuk and joined the Batsheva Dance Company in 2021. In 2022, he premiered in his first creation with the company, MOMO, as a dancer and co-collaborator.
Since he was teaching dance classes in South Italy, Gianni always had a creative voice and choreographed on his own for dance classes and premiered his debut work as choreographer in 2018 with his solo KAMA. The source material of his creations is drawn from his current emotional states. Since then, Gianni restaged KAMA and created LA BATTAGLIA, a duet performance with the Israeli cellist Eilon Damari. Simultaneously to his solo creations, Gianni started a collaboration with Billy Barry in 2022, premiering their first duet B.O.A.T.S. and in 2023, they premiered their new duet G.O.A.T.S at the Tel Aviv Dance Festival.
Gianni is currently a dancer for the Batsheva Dance Company, dancing and performing works by Ohad Naharin all around the world.
