Valerio Lisci, Kevin Spagnolo and Aurélien Pascal bring to the stage an unprecedented line-up, in which the timbral combination of three instruments creates an original sound mixture, enhanced by performances of the highest technical and expressive level. The trio pushes their instruments to the extreme, overcoming all technical limits and combining absolute instrumental mastery with specific effects, such as prés de la table or slapping, and the use of percussion.
The programme is a journey into the great European tradition of the late XIX and early XX century, with transcriptions made by Lisci to explore the rich orchestral sonorities and evocative melodies typical of Late Romanticism.
From Debussy to Fauré, from Strauss to Rachmaninov, each piece is presented in a new light, reinterpreting its spirit through the potential of a new chamber ensemble. The culmination of the programme is the “Dance of the Seven Veils” by R. Strauss, in which the virtuosity of the performers is pushed perhaps to its utmost limit: the rhythmic component has an extreme complexity and involves the use of rattles for the clarinet, the cymbal for the harp and the bass drum for the cello.
