Taming the Ego and Clarifying Its’ Expectations
I’d like to introduce you to my ego, meet yours, and reflect together on what is pushing us forward and what holds us back.
In the nature of Orsolina28, we dance together in studios built to house passion; and We eat together, food that was grown to keep us dancing. We swim together, in lakes surrounded by plants; and we sleep together in yurts under Italian skies...
Nicholas Palmquist
This October, Nicholas has created four different and very personal pieces of movement, as well as a process for applying these ideas to a variety of abilities and bodies in the room.
Patiently, over four days, dancers will challenge their coordination, challenge their musicality, and challenge their approach to being challenged. It is an open-level class with warm-ups, progressions, and the unique Nicholas Palmquist movement language.
Taming the ego and clarifying its’ expectations will serve as inspiration for the students. Ego in the classroom can inspire individualism, romanticize the details of life that become the details of artistry, and push us to acknowledge when good is not yet our best. Alternatively, the pressurized nature of learning can sharpen the words we use in our heads and weaponize them against ourselves and each other.
This workshop is intended for dancers and advanced dance students aged 18+
