BIOGRAPHY

Marie-Agnès Gillot joins the Corps de Ballet of the Paris Opera in 1989, at the age of 14. In 1994 becomes a “Sujet” and immediately performes in important roles in the choreographies of Carlson, Nureyev, Nijinsky, Belarbi. In 1998 is awarded the Prix AROP de la Danse and the next year is promoted “Première Danseuse". In 2004 she becomes Étoile after performing in “Signs”, by Carolyn Carlson: Marie-Agnès Gillot is the first Étoile to be nominated after performing in a contemporary piece. Since then she keeps on interpreting all master roles of the Paris Opera ballets, either in the classic and in the contemporary repertory (Pina Bausch, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj, Édouard Lock, Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine).

Marie-Agnès Gillot is Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres et de l’Ordre national du Mérite.
