Workshop Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years and which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members. The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement, and it continues to evolve today.

WORKSHOP
Gaga invites children to experience the magic of movement through Gagadim – Gagafor children.
The Gaga movement language, developed by Batsheva Dance Company’s artistic director and choreographer Ohad Naharin, offers many benefits for children. Gaga is inherently connected to instinctive movement, and as a result, it provides children with tools and skills for personal and independent development.
The language is known for developing imagination, creativity, flexibility, explosive power, coordination, agility, balance, delicacy, improvisation, humor, and attentiveness to a broad range of sensations. Classes are taught with attention to each participant and his/her abilities and pace of learning. Gaga encourages the channeling of different emotions into a physical experience, in an atmosphere of freedom and the joy of activity, and it strengthens the child’s sense of competence. The work is practiced in comfortable clothes and without mirrors.
During the Gaga week, Orsolina28 also offers a series of integrative lessons such as gravity, swimming, contemporary dance and hip-hop.

FOR TEENS
WORKSHOP
Gaga/dancers for teens are open to professional dancers or advanced dance students ages 15+. These classes last for an hour and fifteen minutes and are taught by dancers who have worked closely with Ohad Naharin.
Gaga/dancers classes are built on the same principles as Gaga/people classes but also employ the specific vocabulary and skills that are part and parcel of a dancer’s knowledge. The layering of familiar movements with Gaga tasks presents dancers with fresh challenges, and throughout the class, teachers prompt the dancers to visit more unfamiliar places and ways of moving as well.
Gaga/dancers deepens dancers’ awareness of physical sensations, expands their palette of available movement options, enhances their ability to modulate their energy and engage their explosive power, and enriches their movement quality with a wide range of textures.
During the Gaga week, Orsolina28 also offers a series of integrative lessons such as gravity, swimming, contemporary dance and hip-hop.

Hadar Katz
Hadar was born in 1984 in Herzliya, Tel Aviv. In 2011, Hadar participated in the Batsheva excellence project under the direction of Hillel Kogan, and in 2012, she graduated from the first Gaga Teacher Training Program.Hadar is a certified jazz, hip hop, Pilates, and Gaga teacher. She currently teaches hip hop and Gaga. Hadar was born in 1984 in Herzliya. She started to dance jazz and hip hop at age 14. She then joined her high school’s dance department and began to study ballet and modern dance techniques. After completing her army service in the field of human resources as part of the intelligence division, she moved to the north of Israel. There she began her professional training in the dance workshop at Kibbutz Ga’aton, under the management of and Einav Levy and Yehudit Arnon. Upon graduation, she joined the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company 2.
In 2009, Hadar moved to Tel Aviv and joined Mayumana, where she was exposed to the study of music and rhythm, vocal development, and acting. The following year, she focused on studying acting through various workshops in the fundamentals of acting, improvisation, and acting for the camera at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio.

Jessica Dessner
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessica Dessner entered the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music’s preparatory ballet program for the Cincinnati Ballet at the age of seven. While training in Cincinnati, she had the privilege to spend her summer study sessions at the School of Chicago Ballet, working with the Balanchine luminaries, Maria Tallchief, Melissa Hayden, and Allegra Kent. At the age of 18, Jessica moved to New York City to study and dance professionally, where she radically shifted gears, exploring the city’s vibrant contemporary dance scene.
She earned a B.F.A. in Dance from Barnard College/Columbia University in 1995, where she studied with, among others, Janet Soares, Elena Kunikova, Francine Landes (Limon), and Donlin Foreman (Graham). During her New York dance career, in addition to creating and performing in her own work, Jessica performed in the work of numerous contemporary choreographers including Poppo Shiraishi, DD Dorvillier, Amy Cox, Richard Move, and Heather Kravas. Recent dance work has included choreography and performance for Sufjan Stevens’ tour and a music video in support of his album, The Age of Adz, performances and choreography for Shara Nova of My Brightest Diamond and playwright Andrew Ondrejcak. She also provided choreography and direction for The Long Count, a multimedia collaboration featuring The National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner and artist, Matthew Richie, performed at Brooklyn’s Academy of Music and the Barbican in London.
In the fall of 2016, she participated in the Berlin Funkhaus Festival, performing with among others, the Havels, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Damien Rice, Mouse on Mars, This is the Kit, Senyawa, and members of the National. Upcoming performances include Acacia Teatro in Naples, Italy and Sounds from a Safe Harbour Festival, in Cork, Ireland. Jessica is also an accomplished visual artist and poet. She earned a MFA in Creative Writing from the New School in 2008. Her drawings and paintings have been featured at the 92Y Tribeca Gallery, bird and Shrine in New York, Country Club in Cincinnati, OH, and the CIT Wandesford Gallery in Cork, Ireland. Her artwork has also been featured in numerous music albums by Sufjan Stevens, as well as the Grateful Dead and the National. Her extensive drawings for the Grateful Dead’s Spring 1990(The Other One) box set was nominated for a Grammy in 2015. After 25 years in New York City, Jessica recently relocated to the Piedmont region of Italy with her family.
