Intensive program

León & Lightfoot

Intensive

24 – 31 Jul 2022

The Program One-week program dedicated to the study and practice of "Sad Case," one of the main pillars of León & Lightfoot's oeuvre. Created in 1998 when Sol León was seven months pregnant, in "Sad Case" surprising and earthly movements on Mexican mambo music show a continual search for the tension between satirical and classic moments.

“A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle”

Sol León and Paul Lightfoot have created over 60 works and their aesthetics span a whole range of not only the physical, but also the emotional and imaginative spectrums.

They use classical technique as a foundation for their work, yet take their creativity away from traditional principles to explore new worlds and possibilities, bridging ideas and fantasies to the humanity and presence of any artist they work with.

Their work has been described as the “Vermeer” of dance; tangible yet mysterious.

Their language is specific and rich, yet they are firm believers in the engagement and contribution of every artist. Being part of their ballets is always a journey into oneself as well as the choreography.
