Horton technique and repertoire
The Ailey Extension and Orsolina28 will be dedicating a week to modern American dance.
Designed to convey Alvin Ailey’s philosophy, classes during this workshop week will focus on Horton technique, which incorporates diverse elements of Native American Folk Dance and Afro-Caribbean elements. It is invaluable for the dynamic fluidity of movement, and on the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre‘s repertoire of masterpieces. Complementing the program there are classical technique classes with Myrna Kamara accompanied by the pianist Robert Ashby and urban dance classes, as well as Matilde’s Braid and GravityⓇ classes with International Master Trainer Matilde Demarchi, to prepare the body for intense days and classes.
At the end of the workshop a student will be granted a scholarship for a week of classes at the acclaimed Ailey Studios in New York. The program is an opportunity to explore the diversity of styles and techniques associated with Alvin Ailey.

Matilde’s Braid and Gravity
Our facility is designed to provide a shared experience, immersed in Nature. A day’s work starts after breakfast with various activities to complete and develop a dancer’s life.
Lunch is prepared with fresh produce grown in O28’s very own vegetable garden and is served at the end of the morning. Lessons then resume for the rest of the afternoon. Optional Gravity classes are available before dinner. However, students who would rather relax can easily do so while enjoying the amazing view. All participant activities are monitored and conducted under the careful supervision of tutors.
