Red

One of the projects selected for Call for Creation ‘25, “RED” explores the cultural contrasts between Eastern and Western values through the lens of the Japanese folk tale “Akai ito de musubareteru” (the red string of fate), in which the gods tie a red thread between two people destined to meet. Through this tale, Ichinose aims to examine how the two different societies perceive fate, autonomy, self-evolution, and familial responsibility. Drawing from the shared experiences of Asian artists in a Western society, Ichinose seeks to create a meditation on identity and belonging.
